Some things are timeless… How good a s’more tastes after a day spent outdoors. The feeling of waking up to the birds chirping. And the excitement felt driving into your favorite state park for a camping trip.

This year is the 125th anniversary of the Wisconsin State Park System. For the last 125 years, our visitors have made lasting memories in some of the state’s most special natural places.

For many Wisconsinites, these fond memories include camping trips in Wisconsin state parks, forests and recreation areas.

In 1999, the Parks Automated Reservation System was initiated. The system allowed customers to call a toll-free central phone number and make reservations at any state park in the system.

A lot has changed over the last 25 years, including the addition of an online reservation platform. Despite what’s changed, one thing has remained the same: camping will always be a favorite pastime for our visitors!
