Private Pesticide Applicator Certification will look different than in years past for Dodge County farmers. Current applicators whose certification is expiring will not be receiving notification in the mail from UW-Madison Extension. Applicators must be cognizant of their certification and dates of validity. If you need to check if you have expired or when you will be expiring, you may go the Certified Pesticide Applicator Database Search at the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
Pesticide Applicator Certification training is available in 3 different platforms (in-person, Zoom or on-line), or you may choose the Self-Study option before testing. To achieve this certification, you must purchase the General Farming Manual and take a test. Training is optional. Certification is valid for five (5) years.
The General Farming Manual will only be available at the WI Pesticide Applicator Training Online Store. County Extension offices do not have them for sale. Cost is $40/ea. Order via mail with printed form or online. Order forms can be picked up in the Extension office or go the Extension Dodge County website to print.
In-person, Online or Zoom training will provide the education component required to secure the reduced grade (50% passing score on the test), otherwise you will be marked as a self-study test (70% passing score). In-person training will need to be paid through the WI Pesticide Applicator Training Online Store. Or fill out the mail order form to purchase manual and training.
Dodge County will be having an in-person training at the Dodge County Administration Building on Thursday, February 2, 2023.
