On Tuesday, August 11th UW-Madison Division of Extension will be offering a morning webinar on post-harvest grain storage systems. Given the current climate of the agricultural commodity markets, it is more important than ever for grain producers to gain more control over the sale of their harvested commodities. On farm storage is the first step toward gaining an edge in the marketing of commodity grains.
In this workshop, farmers will be introduced to key concepts involved with the construction, maintenance, and safety involved with on-farm grain storage bins. The webinar will feature presentations from Ben Jenkins (UW-Madison Division of Extension, Green Lake County), Marcus Scharine (The Scharine Group), Scott Sanford (Outreach Specialist for the UW-Madison Department of Biological Systems Engineering), and Cheryl Skjolaas (UW-Madison Center for Agricultural Safety and Health).
UW-Extension faculty staff has identified this topic as a need among their agricultural stakeholders across Wisconsin and hope that this webinar will help begin a dialogue on how to improve on farm storage. The webinar will start at 9 AM and run until 11:30 AM. We ask that all interested parties please register for the event by Friday, August 7th. To register for this event please go to https://dodge.extension.wisc.edu/
Participants will also hear about possible financial assistance from Jacob Vandeberg of the United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency.
