Pattie’s Parenting Tips-Plant Something as a Family

April 22, 2020

Today’s Tip: Plant something as a family! “He that plants trees loves others besides himself.” ~Thomas Fuller, Gnomologia: Adagies and Proverbs, Wise Sentences and Witty Sayings(1732)

Today is Earth Day! US Senator Gaylord Nelson, from Wisconsin started Earth Day in 1969.  Earth Day began as a “national teach-in on the environment”. This year we celebrate 50 years and through the years Earth Day has become a worldwide event with literally billions of people participating and observing the day.

During this time of COVID-19 with the extended time we are spending at home with our families, now is the perfect time to plant a tree, shrub, bulb or even a garden with the kids. Marking this time together by planting something that comes back or grows taller each year can serve as a reminder of the fortitude and growth families are experiencing despite the pandemic of 2020.
