Area dairy producers and service providers are invited to join UW Madison Division of Extension Dodge County for the first Dodge Dairy Talk Meeting of 2020. These free meetings provide an opportunity for the Dodge County dairy community to learn about relevant topics, discuss issues, and become inspired about new methods and ideas for the dairy farm.
The first of this series of meetings for 2020 will be held on January 28, from 1 -3 pm at the Trenton Town Hall N10584 Jersey Rd, Fox Lake, WI 53933. The theme for this meeting will be Youngstock with featured speakers;
Dr. Jennifer Van Os – UW-Madison, Department of Dairy Science, Assistant Professor & Extension Specialist as she presents “Raising calves in groups for growth performance, animal welfare, and consumer acceptance”. Dr. Van Os will talk about the research she is doing on housing calves in group settings and what the initial data is saying.
Dr. Noah Litherland – Vita Plus Dairy Youngstock Specialist will present “How do your calves measure up?”. Discuss with Dr. Litherland how you can use the numbers you already collect to determine if your heifers are starting strong.
