Area dairy producers and service providers are invited to join UW Madison Division of Extension Dodge County for the SECOND Dodge Dairy Talk Meeting of 2020. These free meetings provide an opportunity for the Dodge County dairy community to learn about relevant topics, discuss issues, and become inspired about new methods and ideas for the dairy farm.
This second in the series of meetings for 2020 will be held on February 18th, from 1 -3 pm at Tin Valley Farms, N2353 Kohler Rd., Neosho, WI. The theme for this meeting will be Nutrition.
- About the Farm. John Rettler/Tin Valley Farms. In 2018, Tin Valley Farms launched a new, high tech robotic milking facility. The facilities feature Lely Milking Robots retro-fitted into the free-stall barn that was built by the team at Fox Cities Builders in 2015. Tin Valley Farms custom-harvests more than 1,000 acres of land and milks 240 cows.
- Using Alternative Forages in your Dairy Rations with Matt Atkins, UW-Madison Extension Dairy Nutrition Specialist. Discussion on how your farm can use alternative forage to meet your Crude Protein, NDF and TDN needed by your herd. Alternative options such as cereal grain forages like oats, rye, triticale, winter rye and wheat will be covered.
